    Location Instructions

The Inn on the Moor Hotel is situated in Goathland, accessible from both the A169 Whitby to Pickering Road and the A171 Middlesbrough to Whitby Road. The Hotel itself is set back from the main road, opposite The Goathland Hotel and right next door to the famous ‘Scripps Garage,’ only 200 yards up the hill from Goathland Railway Station.

When travelling to The Inn on the Moor Hotel we recommend you treat your Sat-Nav or Google Maps Directions with caution as the postcode can sometimes lead customers and guests down ‘The Mill Green Way’, which is a private road that leads to the back of the property.

If you are coming from the direction of Whitby...

…Turn right off the A169 following the sign for Goathland. We advise that you remain on the main road until you reach the Goathland Hotel and you will find The Inn on the Moor directly opposite, on the right-hand side of the road.

If you are coming from the direction of Pickering...

…Turn left off the A169 following the sign for Goathland and the Roman Road. Follow the road until you reach a small roundabout near St. Mary’s Church. You will need to take the second exit, and remain on the main road through Goathland village. You will pass a little row of independent shops on your right before finally approaching the Goathland Hotel. You will find The Inn on the Moor situated directly opposite, on the left-hand side of the road, just after ‘Scripps Garage’.

If you are coming from the direction of Middlesbrough...

…You can either follow the A171 to Whitby and at the roundabout just past Millbry Hill Country Store, take the A169 to Pickering and follow the first set of directions above. This is the advised route if you are travelling to us from this direction in Winter.

If you are coming from the direction of Middlesbrough...

…And the weather is fine, take the A171 until you see a turning on the right sign posted Egton. This junction is located roughly five miles after Scaling Dam Reservoir and the BP Fuel Station and is a slightly sharp, right-hand turn. Once you have taken this turn, remain on Egton Lane and travel through Egton Village (passing the Witching Post Inn, The Wheatsheaf Inn, Egton Primary School, and St. Hilda’s Church and follow the road signs for Goathland. Once you pass The Postgate Inn, Egton Railway Station, St. Hedda’s Church and over Egton Bridge you will see a signpost for Goathland pointing round left-hand bend and up a steep hill.

Continue driving on this road, following the road round to the left and up the hill.

At the top of the hill there is a small row of cottages and a junction leading to the left, signposted for Goathland. Follow this road until you reach Goathland (approximately 5 miles) where you will approach a small roundabout near St. Mary’s Church.

Take the first exit, and remain on the main road through Goathland village. You will pass a little row of independent shops on your right before finally approaching the Goathland Hotel. You will find The Inn on the Moor situated directly opposite, on the left-hand side of the road, just after ‘Scripps Garage.’
